1x Raspberry Pi 5MP Camera Module
1x Flexible Ribbon Cable
Weighing in at just over 3g and measuring (w)25mm x (l)20mm x (d)9mm this tiny camera module packs quite a punch for its size. We were very surprised by the effortless frame rate, overall crispness and depth of colour within the images the module returned.
The camera module connects to Raspberry Pi by way of a short flexible ribbon cable(included) to the onboard BCM2835 processor of the host Raspberry Pi board. This direct connection provides for a higher bandwidth link to carry pixel data from the camera back to the processor. This explains the absence the stellar images this little module is able to deliver. Absolutely perfect for computer vision applications (google “opencv Raspberry Pi” to get started).
The onboard sensor has a native resolution of 5.0 megapixel with a fixed focus lens. The camera is capable of up to 2592 x 1944 pixel static images, and also supports a number of video formats including 1080p @ 30fps, 720p @ 60fps and 640x480p @ 90fps.
The camera is supported in the latest version of Raspbian and is compatible with all versions of the Raspberry Pi including models A, B, A+, B+ and the latest model 2 B.
